Technical Support Engineer

Job Location: Boston, USA

Job Summary: Will troubleshoot and resolve problems for Storwize customers in a small support center environment. Will develop and maintain good working relationships with the established customer base in line with company values and expected behaviors. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answer live incoming phone calls as well as emails and respond to customer inquiry to troubleshoot, manage and resolve customer issues.
  • Assume ownership and responsibility of customer issues and work with engineering as required to drive to resolution.
  • Monitor automated product alert emails and act on them.
  • Effectively escalate deeper technical issues to Engineering.
  • Assist customers with the upgrade process
  • Assist customers with standard storage systems configuration
  • Work with 3rd party service providers in the process of analyzing and resolving customer issues

Required Skills: The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of relevant experience. The candidate must be highly focused on quality and on providing exceptional service to our customers and partners. Candidate must also have excellent written / verbal, communication skills. The successful person will be a team player, highly organized, detail-oriented and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Technical Skills: As many as possible of the below:

  • Networking. Switching, Routing and a wide knowledge of TCP/IP protocols
  • High End Data Storage Systems
  • Unix / Linux System Administration
  • NAS Systems (Netapp / EMC)
  • Knowledge and experience in SAN and IPSAN

Storwize Sales Engineer

Storwize is seeking Sales Engineer candidates to help support our global growth and presence. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of network attached storage (NAS) concepts as well as practical experience with the major NAS vendors’ products and related features. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate a thorough understanding of the CIFS and NFS protocols as well as other storage protocols, and have experience with Windows, Unix and Linux client operating systems. A broad understanding of general storage related concepts is a plus. Excellent presentation and people skills are required – the position requires frequent customer interaction.

Sales Engineer Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-sales technical support to the Storwize sales team – the primary role of the SE is to assist the account team in driving sales revenue
  • Make technical sales presentations to prospective Storwize customers
  • Successfully differentiate for prospective customers the advantages of the Storwize optimization solution over other competing technologies
  • Assist the account team in identifying and qualifying customer opportunities
  • Successfully plan, deploy and manage customer product evaluations including:
    1. Proof of Concepts (POC)
    2. Installations
    3. Support assistance
    4. Identifying product requirements and interaction with Engineering
  • Ensure a positive customer experience
  • Travel is required

Desired Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years acting in a pre-sales position in the storage, server or networking industry
  • Hands-on experience working with at least one major NAS vendor’s products
  • Working knowledge of IP networking and proficiency in related troubleshooting
  • Experience working with current storage optimization product offerings or technologies is a plus
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred
